![]() Install Official HEVC Video Extensions on Windows 11 Install Third-party Media Players to Play HEVC Free on Windows 11 Install HEVC Video Extensions Free from Device Manufacturer In this post, we'll show you install the official HEVC Video Extensions app and free HEVC codecs for Windows 11, as well as how to get HEVC supported by Windows 11 easily with an HEVC/H.265 decoder. What if you don't want to purchase HEVC video extensions from Microsoft Store? Don't worry! There are free HEVC codecs for Windows 11 that also assist in encoding and decoding HEVC or H.265 videos. Like Windows 10, you'll need to download and install HEVC video extensions in Windows 11 to help with HEVC encoding and decoding. That's because Windows 11 still doesn't include the built-in capability to open HEVC videos. If you've ever tried to open a video file encoded with HEVC codec on Windows 11 using one of the built-in applications, you probably received a popup helpfully informing you that you need to pay 99 cents to install the HEVC codecs. Mozilla appears to have the best documentation on this wrapper issue.Summary: Windows 11 doesn't support HEVC (H.265) videos out of the box - you'll need to install them manually, or install free HEVC codecs, use a third-party media player or decode HEVC on Windows 11 for easier playback, editing, uploading and more. So I think Ring have recently installed something in their wrapper for Event History that is preventing playback in some of the browsers, probably because it is non standard HTML5, since it was working and is now not any more. These do play immediately in Windows media player. I can also download the older Event History Videos from the Ring portal, which appear to be standard Mp4 files. ![]() I find now that Google Chrome is displaying the HEVC files from the Event History timeline. Then I paid for (UK Sterling 0.76) the MS Codec from Playstore for HEVC. I then downloaded (despite all the issues of it being blocked by MS Windows install, because “unknown”) the k-lite codecs that included HEVC. I have updated all the browsers and am running the latest version of Windows 11. Now in MS Edge, and in Firefox I get the message “HEVC” is not supported on this browser. I previously had not problems seeing video in HVEC from my recently replaced Ring Stickup Cam (running on mains). I have a superfast PC running Windows 11, connected to a fast fibre network. I thought these additional details may be useful to others troubleshooting this from an Amazon Echo Show perspective… Also, it did NOT work in the Alexa iPhone app either, though it’s working now with that Legacy Video setting on. ![]() Weirdest part is that out of 10 or 15 attempts to view live video between an Echo Show 5 and an Echo Show 10, it worked once on the Echo Show 10 before I enabled the legacy mode a couple of hours later on the website. ![]() Unfortunately the iPhone Ring app DOES NOT have that Legacy Video setting, I suppose since the iPhone does support HEVC so they didn’t think to add it.īut I found that logging into the Ring website and then selecting to enable the Legacy Video via the web browser, Edge in my case, now allows me to see live views on my Echo Shows again! Yaa… No problem with the video on an iPhone with the Ring app though, and the video you couldn’t see on the Echo Show does record properly and can be viewed through the Ring app. Or if you simply want to do a live view, it fails. Note this issue also can affect live views on Amazon Echo devices, for example someone pushes the doorbell button and the Echo Show will ring but the video won’t connect and you can’t see or talk to the person. ![]() The NINJA Notes have been used by 100,000+ CPA candidates to pass their exams since 2011. ![]() While cutting the acrylic, I have also noticed that it will not cut a true circle and has some bumps along the way. I am using 200/2 for etching on the paper and for cutting 3mm acrylic, i have found that 5/80 cuts through cleanly. To circle back to the lack of “detail” of the lines and etching, here are some of the items i tried before throwing the white flag in…Ĭhecked the x and y movement manually to see if I had any tight spots or irregular movements - smooth and freeĬhecked belt tension on x and y axis - not tight as a rubber band but I cannot cause tooth jumpingĪdjusted speeds, increased and decreased for cutting and etching - no change and of course burns through my paper at a very low speed. I am hoping that I made some sort of inadvertent change that would cause the stepper motors to run so poorly. ![]() I have compared to other files and the items I would think that relate to the steppers seem to be within standards amongst the community. This was a file I got from the link in the smoothieboard website for laser machines, and made a couple tweaks to get the aftermarket screen working. I have also attached the config file that I am using for reference. It actually blistered my finger (I know, stupid move but everyone touches the stove at some point). I have not been able to find much about what would cause this, and I wish I had a temp probe to give you an idea of how hot the x axis motor gets. ( I get a homing failure regularly) I have a video of the operation at 1.0 but not sure how to post it for reference. If I set my current to 1.0, the motors make all sorts of odd noises, run very odd, the “bucking” sound I hear at idle is almost continual as well as missing steps accompanied by extreme heat. I also notice a “bucking” sound occasionally when idle. The y axis motor gets extremely warm but at a much slower rate and the z axis I added gets warm after a period of time as well. 7,the motors seem to keep step ok, but within 30 seconds, the x axis motor is so hot I cannot touch it, running or sitting idle. I find this very troubling as all of the documentation I read states that a value of 1.0 should be good and used almost as a standard. It definitely results in horrible control of the laser with missing massive steps. I currently have the stepper motor current values very low due to EXTEREME heat in the steppers if I increase them anywhere past about. I have upgraded to a smoothieboard as we discussed last year. I am at a loss as to what I may have incorrect with my overall system and looking for advice. I have tried a number of different speeds and settings, but cannot seem to get this to change. If you notice, the etching is also very rough on the outline, as well as incomplete left to right. Attached is a photo of what the lines look like, as well as the etching I am going to be inquiring about next. The x axis “wobble” or “jitter” is much more pronounced than the y axis, but at 100mms or higher its extremely noticeable. ![]() With that being said, I have some operational issues now and hoping the forum can assist in solving the mystery.įirst item - the laser will not cut or etch a straight line, either x or y axis. I now have a completely independent CPU running the software and have been able to use the laser overall. It seems that due to it being a company laptop, there was some type of external USB device block script that was killing the connection when I attempted to operate the laser. I finally rectified my connection problem, (from the NOV 19th post about laser stops working after trying to move it) which turned out to be my initial laptop I was attempting to use. To go through and infill every single enclosed area in these small complex designs would be a nightmare, as I’d have to trace over the design with small boxes and other shapes in LaserDRW, well nigh impossible to do accurately and VERY tedious.Įven though the process above seems rather Neanderthal it does give me parts the correct size, it’s just that the machine insists on cutting twice.I am finally back at working with my modded K40 laser after a brief hiatus… First off… Happy New Year! I thought I should update on my progress, and with that ask more questions with new issues that I am struggling with as well. Its rather clunky but since LaserDRW won’t import dxf files directly it’s the only way I can get what want cut to the right dimensions. So I export them as bitmaps from my CAD software and then get the correct size by referencing them against a dimension line that I draw in LaserDRW, with some trial and error. I wish I could import them as dxf files but that’s not possible in LaserDRW. On the solid infill, that’s tricky for my designs as they are derived from CAD files of complex shapes. The ‘hairline setting’, is that an instruction, and where is it? If you have a screenshot of the recommended setting and dialog box I’d appreciate it. |
